A Lab Party!

I recently had the opportunity to do a photoshoot with two adorable labs named Dale and Brooklyn. Their family's kids have grown up and moved out, which is when many parents develop a strong bond with their pets. Dale and Brooklyn couldn't have been more different from each other. Brooklyn was patient and gentle, while Dale was super excited about getting treats!

During the photoshoot, my assistant and I had to adapt to each dog's behavior to figure out the best way to keep them motivated and engaged. We learned that giving them too many treats made them bored, but waiting too long made them distracted. If we came on too strong, they got scared and decided that I was too scary.

To add variety to the photos, we first photographed each dog on a blue background. Then, we switched to a black background with dramatic lighting to make them stand out as gorgeous portraits. Since my clients had two dogs, I made sure to take equal photos of each dog. I always think ahead about what my clients will do with the images.

In the end, my clients chose a shoulders-up portrait of each dog on the black background. They ordered the portraits as framed canvases, and I know they will look stunning side by side on their wall!

As a pet photographer, I love capturing the special bond between pets and their families. Whether it's dogs, cats, or any other furry companion, I believe that portrait photography can truly capture their personalities and the love they bring to our lives.

If you're in Connecticut, and you're looking for a pet photographer who understands the importance of capturing these precious moments, I would be honored to work with you. My goal is to create stunning portraits that celebrate your pets and the joy they bring to your family. Book Your Free Consultation
