Treat-Catching Session vs. Full Pet Portrait Session

Capturing the personalities of dogs and cats is our specialty - whether it’s in a beautiful framed canvas hanging on your wall, or an album displayed on your living room coffee table - our goal is a special experience that celebrates your pet and the beautiful bond you have. On occasion, we host Treat-Catching Mini Sessions which are very different from our full portrait sessions. Many of my clients start with the mini-session to test out how their dog reacts and then use the session fee credit towards booking a full session. Here are the primary differences so you can decide what is right for you!

Treat-Catching sessions are held only a few times a year and can only accommodate a small number of clients. They are a great opportunity to test out how your dog reacts and get more information about the whole experience before deciding to move forward with a full portrait session. I typically include 1-2 digital files in your fee which you select at the end of the session. Your session time is about 15-20 mins. I will have one background color set up and this can not be customized for mini-sessions. I have hosted some sessions at my studio in West Hartford and most recently at Paul’s Custom Pet Food in New Milford. I have options to upgrade to high-resolution digital images and prints which can be purchased at the time of the session. These sessions are fast-paced and tons of fun!

Full Portrait Sessions are for the experience that caters to you and your pup and results in ready-to-hang artwork for your home. They take place at my studio in West Hartford and you have full flexibility to select the date and time that works for you. I spend time getting to know you and your dog so I can help your dog relax and let their true personality shine. These sessions take about 1 hour. I focus on capturing beautiful, serious images and then fun, silly and action-packed images so we can see all sides of your dog (including treat-catching!). You can decide on any background color that suits you, your home decor or that looks good with your pet’s fur. These sessions are paid upfront however the fee does not include any images or artwork. That is all sold separately. About one week after your session, you return to my studio so I can present your images and help guide you on the best options for having them printed. This includes a pre-designed album and wall art mockups using images of your walls. I don’t consider my work done until you have your favorite images beautifully printed in your home!

I offer all of my treat-catching clients the opportunity to apply the session fee towards a full portrait session if booked within 30 days of the mini session. Most of my clients end up doing this because they had so much fun at the treat-catching, they want more! And I love working with pups again so it’s a win for everyone.
